Longquan kiln was the famous porcelain kiln in south China in the Song and Yuan dynasties,it was located in Longquan county,Zhejiang province and was estab-
lished in the Northern Song dynasty,prospered in the Song and Yuan dynasties,declined in the Ming dynasty.It was influenced by Yue kiln,Wu kiln and Ou kiln,so it became a special kiln for producing celadon.In end of the Northern Song dynasty to the early Southern Song dynasty,the main decoration was carved design with castor spot.From middle of the Southern Song dynasty to the early Yuan dynasty,it gradually formed its characteristics,successfully produced powder-green glaze,plum-green glaze,which reached the pick of celadon beauty,became the most pros-
perous period in Longquan kiln.In order to match the character of thick glaze,embossed decoration,impressed decoration and applied floral decoration were usedto replace carved decoration and incised design,which became the main decoration for celadon and made the wares more beauty and unique.People loved the varied shapes of porcelain,especially mortar-shaped censer,covered jar with dragon and tiger design,and Ba Gua incense burner.
